An East Asian model of development: Growth with equity
In: The Pacific review, Band 2, Heft 3, S. 209-217
ISSN: 0951-2748
According to the author, East Asia offers a model of growth with equity that could be emulated in many parts of the 'third world'. He inquires in this article whether there is an East Asian 'model' of development, if it can be adopted, why the more successful East Asian countries have grown at such a rapid rate etc. Some theorists have traced the success of East Asian areas to their ethnic culture and the pervasive Confucian ethic. The author discusses these issues. (DÜI-Sen)
